As is common for Missions organizations, a percentage of all donations go towards operating the organization. In this case 6% goes to our assignment entity, that is Summer Institute of LInguistics - Papua New Guinea, 3% goes to our sending organization, Wycliffe USA, and 1% goes to the Wycliffe Global Alliance

Since Wycliffe is a 501(c)3, they do not pay the employer half of these taxes and as such the missionaries are considered self-employed and must pay the combined 15.4%.

We must have international insurance as well as medivac insurance. This also involves a small amount we set aside in an HSA account to cover deductibles.

We have a Roth 403(b) retirement account.

Also called Furlough, this time is for reinvigorating support and recovering to continue the work while reconnecting with family, partners and friends. These costs are primarily airline tickets, but can also include costs for vehicles and other moving costs.

School fees for our kids while overseas.

All other expenses like food, income taxes, house repairs, clothes, recreational activities, savings, and emergency expenses come from this amount.
